Plastic Bag free Film Event
14/01/08 12:29
3
February, 1.30pm, Duke of York Cinema Brighton.
This event is free. We will instead be collecting for donations to the Duke of York roof renovation project.
www.plasticbagfreebrighton.co.uk presents HAWAII MESSAGE IN THE WAVES - a BBC Natural History Unit documentary looking at environmental challenges facing the people and wildlife of the Hawaiian Islands. Shown from a Hawaiian perspective but with a global message.
As a result of working on this film, Rebecca Hosking was inspired to help her home town of Modbury in Devon the first in the UK to be plastic bag-free.
The event also includes two short films by pupils from Balfour Junior School - 'The amazing adventures of the plastic bag' and 'The revenge of the rubbish' - a talk by artist Lou McCurdy, who exhibited sculptures made from plastic waste collected on a Brighton beach over 1 year and a general question and answer session.
