An installation created from plastic found on one Brighton beach in one year. Lou McCurdy is artist in residence at Stanford Junior School, Brighton.
The ongoing project uses art as a medium for improving children’s understanding of the damage pollution is having on our local and global seas.

The exhibition shows work made from a year’s worth of
beach collecting. From the plastic flotsam - meters of rope, nylon
fishing nets, plastic bottles, disposable lighters and more – she
has built an extraordinarily beautiful and disturbing world,
discovering dreamlike shapes and new resonances in the old
discarded items. For Lou it wasn’t just a process of
reconstruction, it was also a year of learning about the impact of
man-made products on marine life.
This was the first ever environmental exhibition for the Brighton Fringe Festival. .
With support from Surfers Against Sewage and the>Marine Conservation Society Lou will develop this idea and spread it around the country.
